Overview
A love letter to another era. The conclusion of a journey.
In late 2022, Brock Van Wey was ready to move on. At the time, he felt he had reached the conclusion of his deep house project, Earth House Hold. Reaching out to me, he asked me if I would close out the the project as I had helped him begin it back in 2012, with a journey into the abstracted memories of yore.
From day one, Brock’s Earth House Hold project was a love letter to the early days of the San Francisco rave scene, a time of true community, of passion for the music, and the forever-memories created and lived during that time. My artwork was an attempt to capture those moments on the dance floor—surrounded by fog and lights and music, and that one moment—the one image that (even as it gets a little fuzzy over the years) is blazed into your memory forever.
While the project has since been revived, this artwork still marks the closing of a chapter in a deep and profound manner.
